 My Approach to Therapy

We sometimes go through periods in life when we no longer feel like ourselves.

Maybe you have tried everything, and nothing seems to be working. Or maybe you are stuck in a cycle of unwanted thoughts, feelings, or patterns. It is easy to get sucked into what our culture places its value in, such as appearances, outcomes, productivity, or material things.  These are often the root of discontentment and our feelings of inadequacy. I believe we are all wired for connection, yet many of us feel more isolated and alone than ever before. We try to avoid pain and discomfort at all costs. I know this too well, yet I have also learned that when you become open to pain, you also become more receptive to joy. The way you tell your story matters. My hope is to help you develop a more nurturing and productive narrative so that you can begin to experience a more authentic and liberating relationship with yourself and with others. There is no better time than now. Let’s face this together.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

If you have any other questions or need more information, please don’t hesitate to reach out!

Attending your first therapy session can be both exciting and a bit nerve-wracking. Our first session will last 60 minutes and will be a time for us to get to know each other and discuss your goals for therapy. We will review your background, what brings you to therapy, and discuss other current concerns. It is also a great opportunity for you to ask any questions about my approach and how we will work together. I will always respect your pace, and will never force you to share any part of your story until you feel ready to do so.

Typically, sessions are 50 minutes long. The frequency of sessions depends on your individual needs and goals, but most clients meet weekly or biweekly. We’ll discuss and agree on a schedule that works best for you during our initial meetings.

There is no need for any extensive preparation, however, there might be times when we agree to have you reflect on something in between sessions. If you have any insights, questions, or concerns, jot them down so we can discuss them during our session.

Life happens, things come up, or you or a family member may get sick. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please provide at least 24 hours notice to avoid a cancellation fee. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice will incur a fee equivalent to the cost of the missed session.

Therapy can be a valuable tool for personal growth and overcoming challenges. If you’re feeling uncertain, I encourage you to schedule an initial consultation to discuss your concerns and goals. We can explore whether my approach aligns with what you’re seeking and determine if we’re a good fit for each other.

Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of the therapeutic relationship. Everything you share in our sessions is private and protected by law, with some exceptions such as imminent risk of harm. I am committed to creating a safe and trusting environment for you.

I am currently not in network with any insurance providers, however, I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement. Please check with your insurance provider to understand your benefits and reimbursement process.
